S.Korean firm looks to pour US$22 million into Hue smart media
An investor from South Korea has been given the green light to develop a smart media city project worth US$22 million in Thua Thien-Hue Province, according to a representative of the provincial government.
As part of the province’s general smart city project, this is the first smart media project in Vietnam.
The representative noted that Chairman of Thua Thien-Hue Province Phan Ngoc Tho had earlier proposed at a meeting between the relevant sides that the South Korean investor amend some details of the Hue Smart Media City project.
The project is expected to be executed in the An Van Duong new urban area, Hue City, covering a total area of 39.6 hectares. The project will feature many subprojects that will develop the information technology (IT) and virtual reality technology sectors, as well as the film industry.
The project is expected to function as a foundation for the city’s plans to set up a software park that will become a member of Quang Trung Software City.
Lam Nguyen Hai Long, a representative of Quang Trung Software City Development Company, said that the two sides had reached a consensus and sent applications to the Ministry of Information and Communications.
The projected park will be developed by the IT center in Thua Thien-Hue, with 14 operational IT firms, including a foreign enterprise and 13 domestic firms.
The Thua Thien-Hue government has deployed a project to develop smart urban services in the province until 2020, with a vision toward 2025, with total capital of VND325 billion.
In end-2018, the provincial Department of Tourism introduced the “Smart Tourism” project, covering various functions and essential services to serve residents and tourists. The tourism project is expected to help users travel and take sightseeing tours in this locality.
