Shares moves positively on morning trade
The markets witnessed exciting movements among large stocks on Monday morning with cash pouring into most sectors.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange inched up 0.54 per cent to close at 1,009.55 points.
The southern market index climbed 1.91 per cent last week to end at 1,004.12 points on Friday.
More than 119 million shares were exchanged on the southern bourse, worth VND2.5 trillion (US$108.5 million).
The blue-chip VN30 Index was up 0.40 per cent to 930.78 points.
Half of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation ended in positive territory while 12 slumped.
Among the gainers in the VN30 basket were Vietinbank (CTG), up 1.8 per cent to VND23,100 per share; Vietcombank (VCB), up 1.7 per cent to close at VND67,100 per share; and Novaland (NVL), climbing by 1.8 per cent to trade at VND61,000 per share.
Other blue-chips Vinhomes (VHM), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS) and Military Bank (MBB) rose by between 0.9 per cent and 1.4 per cent.
The banking sector contributed to the rise of the VN-Index with gainers including Techcombank (TCB), Tien Phong Bank (TPB) and HDBank (HDB), up by between 0.5 per cent and 1.1 per cent.
Real estate stocks also performed well. Some codes like Dat Xanh Group JSC (DXG) and Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corp (KBC) increased by 1 per cent, Ha Do Group Joint Stock Company (HDG) climbed by 1.4 per cent, and An Duong Thao Dien Company (HAR) increased by 1.7 per cent.
On the other side, there were still a few big losers like Hoa Phat Group (HPG), dropping 2 per cent; Phu Nhuan Jewellery (PNJ), losing 0.1 per cent; and Masan Group (MSN), declining 0.2 per cent.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 0.28 per cent to end at 110.76 points.
The northern market index gained 2.05 per cent last week to finish Friday at 110.44 points,
More than 28.1 million shares were traded on the northern bourse, worth VND361 billion.
