Work starts on VND4t hi-tech tra fish farming project
Nam Viet Company on January 8 began work on the Nam Viet Binh Phu hi-tech seafood farming project covering 600 hectares in Binh Phu Commune, Chau Phu District, in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang.
Doan Toi, chairman and general director of Nam Viet Company, said the project with total capital of VND4 trillion is considered Vietnam’s largest tra fish raising project to apply advanced technology.
The aqua-product farming facility is designed with two zones, with one specializing in producing breeds of tra fish and the other applying advanced technology to fishery farming. The first zone covers 150 hectares, while the second, called the Agriculture Area, has an area of 450 hectares.
The project, which is slated for execution within two years, will be equipped with modern equipment and advanced technologies, especially nano bubbling technology and the Bakture system from Japan for water treatment.
The hi-tech application will not only protect the environment but also ensure high productivity for tra fish farming.
Toi noted that the tra fish breeding area is expected to turn out some 360 million high-quality breeds each year. In addition, some 200,000 tons of tra fish will be produced in the Agriculture Area per year for processing and outbound shipment.
The project is an attempt at adding the final link to the firm’s closed value chain. Accordingly, the company will easily boost efficiency in its farming, exporting and processing operations and raise the competitiveness of Vietnamese tra fish in the global market.
Vice Chairman of An Giang Province Le Van Hung noted that when put into service, the project will contribute to increasing the export revenue of the province by US$100-150 million against the figure seen in 2018.
