Shares rise in morning session
VN stocks end morning session positiveVietnamese shares managed to maintain their rally on Friday morning but selling pressure during the last minutes of trading pulled some large-caps down.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange inched up 0.46 per cent to close at 902.39 points.
The southern market index rose 0.15 per cent to close at 898.30 points on Thursday.
The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange gained 0.31 per cent to close at 102.09 points.
It fell 0.35 per cent to end at 101.78 points on Thursday.
More than 82.7 million shares were traded on the two local exchanges, worth VNĐ1.6 trillion (US$70 million).
Large-cap stocks performed well on Friday morning as the blue chip VN30 Index rose 0.41 per cent to 861.45 points.
In the VN30 basket, 14 of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation advanced while six declined.
Selling pressure at the end of session dragged on Bank for Investment and Development (BID), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), brewery Sabeco (SAB) and Vietcombank (VCB), but many blue-chips maintained an upward trend like Vietinbank (CTG), Petro Vietnam Gas JSC (GAS) and Vincom Retail (VRE).
On a sector basis, securities, banking, insurance and logistic stocks performed well in the morning session.
Those industry indices were up between 0.2 per cent and 1.6 per cent, data on vietstock.vn showed.
The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
