Blue chips mixed as markets fall

Shares ended down on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange despite a good start to Friday morning.

The VN-Index fell 0.02 per cent to 908.65 points after surpassing 912 points when the market opened.

Large caps were mixed.

Heavyweight shares such as Vinamilk (VNM), Vingroup (VIC), Vietjet (VJC), Vietcombank (VCB) and Aviation Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) gained from 0.4 per cent to 1.8 per cent.

On the other end of spectrum, other blue chips including brewer Sabeco (SAB), Vietinbank (CTG), Vietnam Prosperity Bank (VPB), Hoa Phat Group (HPG) and Mobile World Group (MWG) declined by less than 1 per cent.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index inched up 0.12 per cent to end the morning at 102.91 points.

Investors seemed to ignore the market as only 71 million shares worth a combined VNĐ1.4 trillion (US$60 million) were traded on the two markets, about 30 per cent lower than last week.

The afternoon session starts at 1pm.
