Year-ending VBF to take place tomorrow

The Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) 2018 to share opportunities in the context of shifting global trade is going to take place tomorrow on December 4, 2018.

The forum will be organised at Lotte Hotel (Hanoi) by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). As planned, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend and address the VBF.

There are three sessions in the forum, including capital resources for infrastructure development, improving knowledge on modern industry, and overcoming obstacles of businesses. Thereby, working groups on infrastructure, power and energy, capital market, banking, investment-trade, tax and customs, education, agriculture, tourism, along with foreign business associations like EuroCham, AmCham, KorCham, and the Japan Business Association in Vietnam (JBAV) will be present and report at the event.

Major content at the forum will include strengthening public-private co-operation; capital mobilisation; high-quality credit – key resource for innovation; improving competitiveness and simplifying administrative procedures to grab opportunities of free trade agreements and new-generation agreements; transparency of tax and customs for the development of Vietnamese businesses; reforming Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA) and the Power Purchase Agreement.

Additionally, other issues like new skills for Industry 4.0 jobs; precision agriculture and promoting products in the world market; and new approaches for tourism-restaurant-hotel services will also be discussed at the VBF.

Thousands of representatives are expected to participate in the event, including leaders of ministries, agencies, foreign affairs agencies, and organisations, as well as leaders of hundreds of domestic and foreign-invested businesses.

VBF, which was established in 1997, is a channel of policy dialogue between senior leaders of the Vietnamese government and the business community, covering almost all economic fields in order to develop a favourable business climate, mobilise private sector investment, and spur sustainable economic development in Vietnam.
