Strengthening consumption of local specialities in Big C supermarkets

In order to expand the consumption market of local specialities and promote agricultural production in localities, the “Week of Yen Bai’s specialities in Hanoi 2018” has been launched on November 30 at Big C Thang Long supermarket.

This programme is organised by the Yen Bai Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with Central Group Vietnam and will last until December 9, 2018 at 15 Big C supermarkets in the northern region in order to strengthen demand and added-value, as well as develop Vietnamese agricultural brands.

During the event, people in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces will be able to experience and purchase Yen Bai’s most famous specialities certified for food hygiene and safety, such as smoked buffalo/pork meat, tangerines, noodles, wild bamboo shoots, rice, cinnamon rolls, and taro, among others.

With the most affordable prices, 15 Big C supermarkets expect to sell several tonnes of these specialities during the event.

With promotion campaigns and attractive events, the “Week of Yen Bai’s specialities in Hanoi 2018” is expected to promote brands and product quality, as well as enable Yen Bai’s specialities to reach out to customers in Hanoi and neighbouring provinces. This will contribute to Yen Bai’s socioeconomic development.

At the launching ceremony, Pham Trung Lan, deputy director general of the Yen Bai Department of Industry and Trade, said: “Over the last years, Yen Bai has boosted production and improved the quality of its products, matching the food hygiene and safety requirements of consumption markets, and has built several prestigious brands like the Gioi Phien noodle, Dai Minh grapefruit, Van Yen cinnamon, Tu Le sticky rice, and Seng Cu rice. We hope that Yen Bai’s specialities will be able to increase their markets through the campaign.”

Meanwhile, Le Thi Mai Linh, Central Group Vietnam’s executive vice president for Corporate Relations and Communications, said that as retailersdistributing goods to customers, Big C supermarkets and Central Group Vietnam often collaborate with ministries, agencies, and localities to hold programmes introducing and advertising agricultural products and local specialities.

He expressed hope that customers of Hanoi and other provinces will enjoy the “Week of Yen Bai’s specialities in Hanoi 2018,” contributing to the implementation of Central Group Vietnam’s commitment to help Vietnam prosper through better quality of life. Linh added that the group is ready to support suppliers and producers, as well as local small- and medium-d enterprises to expand their distribution network into modern retail channels and add value to agricultural products, thereby developing their brands.

The “Week of Yen Bai’s specialities in Hanoi 2018” was organised with the same format and sentiment as previous programmes held by Big C and Central Group Vietnam, such as the “Week of Northwestern and Nothern Mountainous Provinces’ specialities” at Big C An Lac in Ho Chi Minh City’s Binh Tan District and 15 Big C supermarkets in the north; the “Week of Song Da’s Fish” at Big C supermarkets in northern provinces; the “Week of Hung Yen Longan”; the “Week of Longan and Son La’s Safe Farm Products”; the “Week of OCOP products”; the “Week of Luc Ngan Bac Giang Lychee in Hanoi”; and the “Week of Ham Yen-Tuyen Quang Oranges” among others.
