VPBank shaping the future of the banking landscape

Software firm SAP Viet Nam on Thursday announced a partnership with VPBank to equip the company with solutions to serve digital and mobile banking needs in Viet Nam.

VPBank has been equipped with SAP Omnichannel Banking (OCB) software along with services including SAP Premium Support (PE) and SAP Application Maintenance Support (AMS) to transform its banking platform and services.

With the nation’s mobile internet adoption projected to nearly double between 2015 and 2022, VPBank saw an opportunity to transform its banking platform and services to support the huge growth of digital and online banking potential. VPbank also needs an adaptable system that can be connected to other local systems, interfaces and payment gateways, and the capacity to operate with new fintech platforms in Viet Nam.

“As Viet Nam develops its digital economy, intelligent technologies will be key in enabling digital banking platform and services,” said Nguyen Hien Trung, project director of e-banking – IT, VPBank. “SAP OCB is the intelligent technology that provides our company with a suitable e-banking platform and services which available 24/7 for all of our customers.”

With SAP OCB, VPBank can now support more than 750,000 registered customers with 24/7 internet and mobile banking services. From essential banking services, the bank will be there whenever and wherever customers need it.

SAP OCB provides not only smooth services for users with internet access but also a chance for the bank to acquire new customers by providing state-of-the-art e-banking.

Trung said: “VPBank’s customer base has expanded much larger since the deployment of SAP OCB and now the bank is handling over five million transactions per month with availability of greater than 99 per cent. Without SAP OCB, the in-house development system would not have been able to maintain such growth of customer transactions and retain high availability,”

With SAP OCB, VPBank can perform to its utmost capability. It can now monitor and anticipate errors before they become customer issues. The technology also allows open communication between IT infrastructure, applications and interfaces, which helps the company ensure service downtime is avoided.

VPBank recently won the prestigious IDG award of ‘Outstanding Digital Bank 2018’ for e-bank OCB applications and general approach for doing technological innovations.

“As we are committed to bringing the best banking system and services to people and businesses that are fuelling the country, VPBank is confident in leveraging the power technology through the cutting-edge e-banking platform we are now operating with. VPBank is proud to be a leader not only in the banking industry of Viet Nam today and tomorrow but also a leader in moving our country towards a vigorous digital economy,” he said.

Josephin Galla, managing director of SAP Viet Nam, said: “As a leading financial institution, VPBank continues to pave the way for industry best practices that can radically change the way businesses and consumers can benefit from technology. We are pleased to partner with VPBank on this transformational journey to help the business run better. SAP continues to commit to enable businesses to extract greater value in the expanding digital economy of Viet Nam.”
