Hoa Binh to licence $500 million in projects at upcoming conference

Eleven projects totalling $500 million in capital will be licensed at the Hoa Binh Investment Promotion Conference early next week, according to Nguyen Van Thang, Chairman of the Hoa Binh People's Committee.

These projects include major projects such as the water processing and treatment factory project by Aqua One Water JSC with a total investment of VND3.04 trillion ($132.17 million) and a planned capacity of 600,000 cubic metres of water per day.

"The province will also sign 18 memoranda of understanding with the total investment of VND68 trillion ($2.96 million) at the event," said Thang.

The conference, as part of the province's fruit fair and Hoa Binh agriculture expo, will focus on the province's review of the past 15 years of investment attraction and identifying how to best promote its potential and advantages to attract more local and foreign investors to key projects.

Addressing the press briefing on December 6, Nguyen Van Phuc, deputy head of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, said that powerful groups are studying investment opportunities in the province, including Vingroup and FLC.

Binh lured in 69 newly-registered investment projects, including two foreign direct investment (FDI) projects since the beginning of this year, thus increasing the province's accumulated total number of projects to 544 projects, including 37 foreing-invested projects with the total registered capital of $502 million and 507 domestic projects with the registered capital of nearly VND64.89 trillion ($2.82 billion) as of to date.

In 2018, there were 450 newly registered enterprises with the total registered capital of VND7.5 trillion ($326.1 million). As of the end of 2018, the province is estimated to accumulate 2,800 projects with the total registered capital of VND36 trillion ($1.57 million).
