Hanoi lists 125 companies owing nearly $5 million in tax and fees

The Hanoi Department of Taxation has just announced that 125 companies owe over VND110 billion ($4.8 million) in tax and related fees.

As of September 30, 2018, 102 companies owed a total of VND58 billion ($2.5 million) of taxes and fees.

Hanoi Construction and Materials JSC ranks first with the total of VND13.7 billion ($595,600) in arrears and fees, followed by Bao Chau Services and Transport JSC (VND4.9 billion – $213,000), Phu Mai JSC (VND3.5 billion – $152,200), Thanh Trung Construction and Production Steel Structure JSC (VND2.8 billion – $121,700), and Alpha M.A.I JSC (VND2.4 billion – $104,300). The remaining companies owe less than VND2 billion ($87,000).

In addition, 23 companies from the Hanoi Department of Taxation’s similar lists in 2015-2017 still owe VND53 billion ($2.3 million) in tax.

These 23 companies have been received repeated notices but have yet to pay. Power Engineering Consulting JSC ranks first with the total arrears of VND18 billion ($0.8 million) accumulated by September 30, 2018.

Others include 699 Construction JSC owing VND10 billion ($434,800) in taxes and fees, Bach Dang 8 Construction Corporation (VND6.1 billion – $265,200) and Song Hong 6 Corporation (VND3.3 billion – $143,500).

Since the beginning of 2018, the Hanoi Department of Taxation has announced that 1,627 companies and projects owe a total of VND6.35 trillion ($276 million) in taxes, fees, and land-related payables. 660 of these companies have paid VND517 billion ($22.5 million) since then.

The Hanoi Department of Taxation said that the agency will continue to collaborate with relevant agencies and propose applying coercive measures more drastically, especially for enterprises which have the funds but avoid paying taxes and related fees.
