Shares volatile on large-cap stocks

Shares fell on both stock exchanges on Wednesday morning, experiencing strong volatility with big variation in large-caps’ prices.

 

Viet Nam’s benchmark VN-Index ended Wednesday morning on a negative note, dragged down by large-cap stocks.

The VN-Index on the HCM Stock Exchange edged down 0.03 per cent to close at 995.91 points.

The benchmark index inched up 0.01 per cent to close at 996.19 points on Tuesday.

The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange rose 0.10 per cent to end at 114.18 points.

The northern market index lost 0.07 per cent to end at 114.30 points on Tuesday.

Nearly 127.7 million shares were traded on the two local exchanges, worth VNĐ2.5 trillion (US $107 million).

The blue chip VN30 Index gained 0.01 per cent to stand at 967.47 points at the end of morning trading.

Among the gainers were real estate developer Vinhomes (VHM), Vingroup (VIC), budget carrier Vietjet (VJC) and the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group (PLX).

Meanwhile, decliners included Bảo Việt Holdings (BVH), Military Bank (MBB), Masan Group (MSN) and dairy firm Vinamilk (VNM)

The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
