Viet Nam and Denmark ink deals to unleash potentials of agro-food production

Tan Long Group on Wednesday signed strategic partnership agreement with six leading Danish companies, which are well-known for turn-key solutions in agriculture.

The European firms will specialise in pig farm equipment, grain handling, feed mill plant and feed nutrition to adopt advanced technologies on its projects in Ha Noi.

The Embassy of Denmark hosted the signing between six companies including SKIOLD A/S, Munters A/S, Tornordic A/S, Haarslev A/S, DanBred P/S and Vilomix A/S, and Tan Long Group – one of the Viet Nam’s leading traders in food and agricultural commodities.

Under the agreement, SKIOLD will be in a deal worth many million euros of consulting, designing, and supplying advanced solutions and equipment for a pig farm and paddy rice silos for a storage plan. As close partners of SKIOLD, Munters supplies ventilation solutions for all pig farm projects of Tan Long Group.

Meanwhile, DanBred and Vilomix are invited to provide the best breeding genetic and high-quality feed and nutrition supplements for pig farm projects in Myanmar and Viet Nam.

Tornordic and its sub-contractor Haarslev will be the suppliers for Tan Long Group’ s slaughter house plant, meat processing plant and meat bone mill factory.

Danish Ambassador-Designate Kim Højlund Christensen said Denmark and Viet Nam had a long history of co-operation in food and agriculture, especially in the fields of seed production, animal husbandry, fisheries, water, environment and energy.

“Developing sustainable food value chains and enhancing food standards and food safety have always been at the centre of our mutual cooperation,” he said.

Tan Long Group is a joint stock company specialising in food value chains, including rice and pork production. The group has invested in high technology and innovation in order to carry out the closed production model 3F (food - animal husbandry - food) to ensure quality and safety for consumers.

Nguyen Chanh Trung, managing director of rice and rice mill of Tan Long Group, said the group’s pig farm had a capacity of 350,000 pigs per year and is expected to increase the number to one million pigs in the near future. In addition to its domestic market, the group has spent money in building a large-scale farm in Myanmar, with plans to supply about 100,000 pigs for the market in 2019.

In term of rice, the group has many rice processing complexes in the southern province of Dong Thap and Can Tho City. With the aim of expanding the rice production to 240,000 tonnes per year, the firm will build a complex of rice processing and post-harvest preservation using modern Danish technology, said Trung.
