Binh Dinh welcomes $63 million solar farm

Vietnam Renewable Energy JSC (REVN) has been permitted in principle to build a solar power plant in My Chau commune, Binh Dinh province’s Phu My district.

The VND1.44 trillion ($63.1 million) solar project, which has the designed capacity of 50MW, will cover 60 hectares of water and 0.6 hectares of land.

The plant will help increase the capacity of the national grid and meet the increasing demand for electricity in the province.

It is expected to be put into operation in 2019.

Earlier on April 3, Binh Dinh Fujiwara JSC held the ground-breaking ceremony of the Binh Dinh Fujiwara solar and wind power project located in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, Quy Nhon city.

The 100MW Binh Dinh Fujiwara solar and wind power project has a total investment of $63 million and will be developed on 60ha in Nhon Hoi EZ in two phases.

This is the third renewable energy and the first large solar power project of Binh Dinh.

The project progress is divided into two stages. Stage 1, from May 2017 to February 2019, will complete and put into operation the solar power plant (50MW); Stage 2, from February 2019 to February 2020, will complete and put into operation the wind power plant (50 MW).

The project will supply electricity for Nhon Hoi EZ and the national electricity grid, while simultaneously creating a new image for luring investment into the renewable sector of Binh Dinh.
