Swiss company proposes financial and insurance centre in Van Don SAEZ

Switzerland’s Sowareen Solutions AG has just proposed to build a finance and insurance centre at Van Don Special Administrative-Economic Zone (SAEZ) in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

At the meeting with Chairman of the Quang Ninh People's Committee Nguyen Duc Long, this Swiss corporation introduced its track record and professed to its capacity in developing finance and insurance centres in a range of countries, as well as proposed establishing a real estate development venture in Van Don SAEZ.

This corporation also wanted to lure in investors and international financial suppliers into renewable energy in Van Don SAEZ. Sowareen Solutions AG is experienced in sustainable waste management cycles, renewable energy cycles, and environmentally friendly waste-to-energy solutions.

Earlier, in early April 2018, Johnathan Hanh Nguyen, chairman of Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPP) proposed to pour VND10 trillion ($0.44 billion) into the whole non-tariff area of Van Don SAEZ between 2018 and 2023.

Besides, the joint venture of Vision Transportation Group (VTG), Hai Dang JSC, and Sunny World Property Development Corp. also proposed to develop three large-scale projects with the expected total cost of $10-15 billion in Van Don SAEZ.

These three super projects are the Mong Cai-Van Don high-speed railway, Hon Net-Con Ong deep sea port and industrial urban zone, and an urban area complex in the north of Cai Bau Island.

Chairman of Quang Ninh province Nguyen Duc Long said that investors should continue studying and working with the province to hammer out the final investment solution for the finance and insurance centre in Van Don SAEZ.

According to the chairman, the province is mobilising various resources for infrastructure construction at Van Don SAEZ and formulating a socioeconomic development master plan in general and a master plan for Van Don SAEZ in particular.

Today (May 23), the National Assembly will discuss the draft Law on SAEZs, including six chapters and 85 articles, which is expected to be put on vote at the end of the legislative session.
