VN-Index gains on real estate stocks

The benchmark VN-Index rose on Friday morning as real estate stocks remained upbeat and blue-chips performed strongly as well.

 

The VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange advanced 0.09 per cent to close at 1,168.13 points. The Index edged down 0.44 per cent on Thursday.

The HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange dropped 0.17 per cent to end at 131.65 points. It closed off 0.51 per cent in the previous session.

More than 134.5 million shares, worth VNĐ3.9 trillion (US$170 million), were traded on the two local bourses.

Market breadth was quite balanced, with 193 gaining shares, 208 declining ones and 340 stocks ending flat.

The UPCoM Index on the Unlisted Public Company Market remained unchanged to stand at 60.21 points. The index gained 0.77 per cent in the previous session.

Real estate stocks drove the market up, with Vingroup (VIC), Development Investment Construction JSC (DIG), Dat Xanh Real Estate Service & Construction Corporation (DXG) and No Va Land Investment Group Corporation (NVL) up between 0.26 and 3.77 per cent.

Large-cap stocks under-performed, as 17 of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation in the VN30 Index increased, pulling the large-cap index up 0.04 per cent to 1,145.21 points.

Gainers in the VN-30 basket included brewer Sabeco (SAB), FLC Faros Construction (ROS), Hau Giang Pharmaceutical (DHG) and budget airline Vietjet (VJC).
