Hanesbrands Vietnam celebrates a decade of steady growth in Vietnam

HanesBrands Vietnam, the subsidiary of the world’s leading marketer of basic apparel, yesterday celebrated its first decade of remarkable achievements in Vietnam.

Founded in 2007, HanesBrands Vietnam exports apparel products to the US, Canada, Australia, Japan, and China, among others. The company has built a strong supply chain with three large-scale modern plants in Khoai Chau and Kim Dong districts in the northern province of Hung Yen, and Phu Bai district in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.

HanesBrands Vietnam’s annual capacity reaches 34.5 million dozen units, accounting for 20 per cent of the group’s total production.

HanesBrands Vietnam is among the largest textile and garment enterprises in Vietnam with a total workforce of approximately 12,000. The company’s main portfolio includes basic apparel such as underwear and bras.

Since the company’s first appearance in the country, HanesBrands Vietnam has grown into Asia’s biggest producer of American underwear. Particularly, the Khoai Chau plant has produced more than one billion products to date.

“We are proud of HanesBrands Vietnam’s unprecedented accomplishments in the past decades. We have produced a string of achievements, while making significant contributions to society and our employees’ quality of life. We will continue this success story to deepen our worldwide footprint as well as our contribution to the Vietnamese economy,” said Javier Chacon, chief global manufacturing operations officer at HanesBrands Inc.

In 2012, the company shipped its 350 millionth products and started exporting to Japan, one of the toughest markets across the world. 2015 marked the company’s appearance in Europe. In 2017, HanesBrands Vietnam inaugurated its cutting workshop to complete the supply chain and extend the company’s presence to Australia. This year, the company has also reached its milestone of 1 billion products shipped.

The company’s profit continues to increase at a two-digit pace regardless of economic recessions. HanesBrands Vietnam’s total investment in Hung Yen reached more than VND1.84 trillion ($79.3 million).
