System from Japan to standardise local ports
Japan's Nippon Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System, a privatised company that provides online customs procedures for land and sea freight, is looking to provide its automated customs platform to Cambodia as part of an initiative to standardise procedures in Asean and facilitate Japanese business expansion in the region, according to a Japanese media report.
The system, which has already cut import and export time in Vietnam and Myanmar, centralises processes such as quarantine inspections. Japan will provide the system for free after Prime Minister Hun Sen requested it from Japan’s Finance Ministry last month during a state visit.
