Delegates meet with US trade rep in Washington

A Cambodian delegation led by Minister of Commerce Pan Sorasak met Assistant US Trade Representative (USTR) Barbara Weisel in Washington, DC, on Friday to continue negotiations regarding the proposed Cambodia-US Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA).

The two sides evaluated Cambodia’s progress in meeting the benchmarks for a TIFA, including efforts to improve trade facilitation, labour and IPR protection, while high-lighting areas where additional work needed to be done.

Trade between Cambodia and the US rose to $1.54 billion in the first half of 2017, a 14 percent increase compared with the same period in 2016.
