4 local firms on Forbes’s Global 2000 list

Four Vietnamese firms were named in the Forbes’ 2017 Global 2000 list of the world’s biggest and most powerful public companies.

They included the Bank for Investment and Development of Viet Nam (BIDV), Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (Vietinbank), Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and Viet Nam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk).

The three banks moved up in the list compared to last year due to Viet Nam hastening the restructuring of the banking sector and resolving non-performing loans. Vinamilk made the list for the first time.

The Forbes Global 2000 ranking is based on a composite score from equally-weighted measures of revenue, profits, assets and market value.
