Three Vietnamese entrepreneurs among Forbes’ Asia 30 Under 30

Three young Vietnamese entrepreneurs have been listed on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Asia list this year.

The list is compiled annually by the American business magazine recognising Asia’s most influential individuals.

The first is Nguyen Hai Ninh, 29, founder of two coffee chains -- Urban Station and The Coffee House.

The Coffee House, an upgraded version of Urban Station, has expanded to up to 43 stores and is located in Viet Nam’s big cities. Till date, The Coffee House has received US$1.8 million in investment capital and earned $7 million in revenue.

The second is Nguyen Hoang Hai, 26, CEO of Canavi.

Canavi.vn was established in 2015, aimed at helping women find suitable jobs. Following one year of operation, the website attracted some 20,000 users. In the middle of 2016, Canavi mobilised investment capital of $110,000 from eight investors.

Hai is also the founder of video production house ViviDigital, which is making profits.

The third name on the list is of Nguyen Hoang Trung, 24, founder of Lozi.

Lozi, founded in 2012, is a technology app, sharing cuisine and food information. This startup received investment from two funds Golden Gate Ventures and DesignOne Japan in December 2015.

Currently, Lozi has more than 2,000 registered restaurants and almost three million users.

Twenty seven-year-old Vietnamese rapper Suboi also appeared on the list under the Entertainment & Sports category.

Forbes’ list is divided into 10 categories -- Consumer Technology; Enterprise Technology; Entertainment & Sports; and The Arts; as well as Finance & Venture Capital; Industry, Manufacturing & Energy; Healthcare & Science; and Social Entrepreneurs; along with Media, Marketing & Advertising; and Retail & E-commerce.

The criteria for honorees include leadership and disruption in their fields, entrepreneurial mindset and results and the likelihood of changing their field over the next half-century.
