Kim Heang continues second term as CVEA president
Kim Heang has again secured the presidency of the Cambodian Valuers and Estate Agents Association (CVEA). The association’s members re-elected the CEO of Khmer Real Estate for the term from 2017 through to 2018.
Heang had garnered the winning 28 votes, compared with a close tailing by Sorn Seap at 27 votes. Van Chanthorn and Grace Rachanavy came in last with a small, undisclosed number of votes.
Heang’s message after winning the elections was that he would continue pushing the standards of CVEA to match those of of ASEAN and international levels, “because real estate is my life.”
To Heang, being a president or a vice-president is not only about the image and title. He said one must be willing to put in serious hours and hard work as a result of being in such a position of power.
He believes that there are people who only want the reputation that accompanies such a high-ranking title, but do little to prove themselves worthy of managing a company.
He continued, “At the least, I will push this association to a professional standard equivalent to Malaysia’s.”
Kuy Vat, chairman of CVEA’s advisory board, emphasised how vital teamwork was in order to progress at the same rate as other countries, along with stricter management on evaluating and enhancing the professionalism of agents and companies.
“Teamwork is a bit of a challenge, but if we can conquer it, all of us will be successful.”
