Officials up White Building
Hundreds of officials from the Ministry of Land Mangement, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) gathered at the White Building yesterday to collect data ahead of the iconic building’s demolition.
Locals and residents watched on as officials measured, took notes and collected information from each flat owners.
Post Property observed officials from the MLMUPC from provinces such as Kampong Speu, Kandal, Prey Veng, and Kampong Cham, measuring the ground floor of the building.
An officer, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “We are merely measuring the actual of each house, add the data into the existing temporary land title and send it back to the ministry.”
He added, “The measuring methods are precise, such as the width, length, including the front and back balcony, and the walkways.”
A 50-year-old vendor on the ground floor said yesterday, “The officials finished measuring the ground floor of the White Building this afternoon.”
He continued, “But the officials did not give us any information, only that the ministry will have a meeting to make the final decision on December 3.”
According to various interviews yesterday, more than 90 percent of the White Building residents claimed that they “want to get reasonable compensation cash for their house so that they can use that money to buy a house according to their needs.”
