Euro Auto denies fraud accusations
Euro Auto, the official BMW importer in Viet Nam, has denied Government accusations of trade fraud, saying it had obeyed the law and protected customers’ rights and interests.
The Ministry of Finance has accused the HCM City-based company of selling cars without customs clearance and failing to provide certificates of origin (C/O) and relevant import documents. It was also said to have used fake trade contracts for imports.
The ministry asked the General Department of Customs to cease customs clearance for BMW import batches, excluding vehicles of diplomats. It assigned the agency to work with the People’s Supreme Procuracy to consider prosecuting Euro Auto.
“Euro Auto has accounted for doubts of the Ministry of Finance, and we are providing this agency with documentation and explanations,” the company said in a press release issued Wednesday.
“In case the explanations of Euro Auto are not accepted, we will reserve the right to ask for support and intervention of other authorities in order to protect legitimate rights and interests of the company,” it said.
The company also said it had issued financial reports in an absolutely transparent manner, and strictly conformed to current tax laws.
