Thai Expo targets connecting ASEAN+6 logistics community

TILOG – LOGISTIX, an international exhibition on logistics service providers, technologies, and solutions, opened on September 21 in Bangkok, offering logistics firms in the ASEAN+6 region the opportunity to learn about global trends, acquire logistics technologies and seek business partners.

Organised by the Department of International Trade Promotion and Reed Tradex Co., Ltd, the second TILOG – LOGISTIX exhibition, titled "Unifying the Powers of ASEAN+6 Logistics", has attracted 415 global brands from 25 countries and territories including Singapore, Japan, China, Taiwan, Germany, France, Japan, and the US.

Suttisak Wilanan, deputy managing director of Reed Tradex, said the products on display relate to various aspects such as logistics service providers, software/IT and related services, especially Innovative Logistics 4.0 products such as intelligent robots that work with accuracy at hitherto unseen speeds in areas where humans have difficulty working like freezers, cold rooms, chemical warehouses, driverless forklifts operating on laser codes, and automated warehousing and storage systems which can retrieve information accurately and with speed.

These new technologies are expected to improve the efficiency of the logistics industry in the region, he said.

"We organised road shows in many countries and territories, including China, Hong Kong and Viet Nam."

Many seminars, including the International Trade Logistics Symposium on "Towards Logistic Era 4.0" and the World Transport and Logistics Forum, were organised alongside the event, he said.

Thai Minister of Commerce Apiradi Tantraporn said the concept of the exhibition is in line with the strategy devised for trade and logistics development for Thai service providers and is supportive of Thailand entering the era of Logistics 4.0.

The exhibition would be a good platform for logistics businesses in the region to meet and exchange ideas, learn new technologies and innovations and build business alliances, she said.

At the opening ceremony LEO Global Logistics Company Limited was conferred the Excellent Logistics Management Award for its world-class standards and excellence in logistics management.

The exhibition, on at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre until September 23, is expected to welcome 10,000 visitors compared to 8,000 last time, Wilanan said.
