Ministry reduces fuel prices

Petrol stations across the country lowered the retail prices of petrol and diesel yesterday after the Ministry of Industry and Commerce issued an announcement on fuel price reduction last Friday (August 12).

Fuel prices in Laos remain subject to a public mandate mechanism and are reviewed regularly as well as being adjusted per province due to the costs of fuel transportation to more remote areas and related factors.

The ministry had increased regulated prices of motor fuel on four occasions previously before announcing a reduction in prices this week in accordance with global oil price trends and market mechanisms.

Currently, petrol stations in the capital Vientiane are trading premium grade petrol for 8,350 kip per litre, a reduction of 130 kip; regular petrol for 7,350 kip per litre, down by 150; while cost of diesel is 6,200 kip per litre, 170 kip cheaper than previously.

In Khammuan and Savannakhet provinces, premium petrol enters the market at 8,380 kip per litre, while the same volume of regular retails for 7,380 kip and diesel for 6,230 kip.

In Champassak province, premium petrol drives out at 8,410 kip, regular petrol at 7,410 kip, and diesel 6,260 kip.

In Bokeo province, premium petrol can be had for 8,450 kip per litre, regular petrol for 7,450 kip and diesel for 6,300 kip.

Meanwhile in Luang Prabang province, premium flows for 8,810 kip per litre, regular petrol for 7,810 kip and diesel for 6,660 kip.

In Vientiane province, premium petrol goes for 8,350 kip per litre, regular petrol sells for 7,530 kip per litre, while diesel is now 6,200 kip.

In Xaysomboun, Xekong and Attapeu provinces, regular is on offer for 7,590 kip per litre and cost of diesel is 6,440 kip per litre.

In Xayaboury and Huaphan provinces, regular will fuel your automobile for 7,750 kip per litre and diesel is selling for 6,660 kip per litre.

In Xieng Khuang province vendors trade regular for 7,540 kip per litre and diesel for 6,390 kip per litre; Oudomxay province sees regular going for 7,800 kip per litre and diesel for 6,650 kip per litre.

Luang Namtha province exchanges regular petrol for your hard-earned at 7,710 kip per litre and diesel for 6,560 kip per litre;\ and Phongsaly province prices regular at a rate of 8,080 kip per litre and diesel for 6,930 kip per litre.

In Saravan pro vince regular can be purchased for 7,560 kip per litre and diesel for 6,410 kip per litre; while traders in Borikhamxay province are expected to fill up your tank with regular at a price corresponding to 7,470 kip per litre and diesel for 6,320 kip per litre respectively.
