Petrol prices on the rise
he price of petrol has risen by 460 kip per litre while the diesel price has risen by 480 kip per litre, following an announcement from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on June 6.
Fuel prices have risen for the second time this year after the ministry previously increased prices in the middle of last month, meaning consumers throughout the countr y will now pay more to drive their cars.
The ministry lowered prices four times previously before announcing an increase of prices this week.
The ministry cited the changing global oil price as the reason for the pump price hike.
The new p rice hike became effective yesterday in Vientiane and also in other provinces across the country.
Currently, petrol stations in Vientiane should sell premium grade petrol for 8,350 kip per litre, up from 7,890 kip per litre and regular petrol for 7,370 kip per litre, up from 6,910 kip per litre.
The cost of diesel is now 6,050 kip, up from 5,570 kip per litre.
In Khammuan and Savannakhet provinces, premium petrol now costs 8,380 kip per litre, up from 7,920 kip; regular sells for 7,400 kip, up from 6,940 kip; and diesel is retailing for 6,080 kip, up from 5,600 kip.
In Champassak province, premium petrol sells for 8,410 kip, up from 7,950 kip and regular petrol sells at 7,430 kip, up from 6,970 kip.
The cost of diesel is now 6,110 kip, up from 5,630 kip.
In Bokeo province, premium petrol should sell for 8,450 kip per litre, up from 7,990 kip; regular petrol for 7,470 kip, up from 7,010 kip; and diesel for 6,150 kip, up from 5,670 kip.
In Xieng Khuang province, regular petrol sells for 7,560 kip per litre, up from 7,100 kip per litre, while diesel is now 6,240 kip, up from 5,760.
Meanwhile in Luang Prabang province, premium petrol should sell for 8,810 kip per litre, regular petrol for 7,830 kip and diesel for 6,510 kip.
