Patent treaty heads to Cambodian cabinet
The Ministry of Industry and Handicraft announced plans to register Cambodia as a member of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), an international patent law treaty, as a way to protect inventions in Cambodia.
Cham Prasidh, the minister of Industry, confirmed yesterday that he will submit the proposal at this week’s cabinet meeting and then wait for it to be processed by PCT.
“This will encourage research for innovation in Cambodia,” Prasidh said. Cambodia and Myanmar are the only two ASEAN countries not a member of PCT.
