Exim Bank plans first foray into Cambodia
State-owned Export-Import Bank of Thailand (Exim Bank) will open a representative office in Cambodia as part of its regional expansion, according to the Thai bank’s newly appointed president, Pisit Serewiwattana.
Pisit told the Bangkok Post yesterday that Exim Bank intends to play a more aggressive role in overseas markets this year by setting up a representative office in Myanmar.
He said the bank will open a representative office in Laos in 2017 and another one in Cambodia thereafter. The expansion is aimed at providing financial services to Thai operators that are making inroads into the Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) region, boosting Thailand’s outward direct investment in the region, he said.
