Asean-China exhibitions promoting mutual participation
Nanning, China: China-Asean convention and exhibition cooperation has mobilised Chinese companies to participate in exhibitions and fairs in Asean countries.
Various exhibitions attracting Chinese participation include the Lao Wood Furniture Fair, Brunei International Trade and Consumer Exhibition, Indonesia International Trade Fair, Food and Hotel Asia, Cambodia Import-Export and One Province, One Product Expos.
Outbound exhibitions in Asean countries such as this month's China-ASEAN Expo(CAEXPO) Vietnam Exhibition and the CAEXPO Myanmar Exhibition in October were especially drawing Chinese firms to the region.
A Chinese CAEXPO official speaking yesterday at an Economics and Trade Seminar for journalists in Nanning, China from June 15-28 said China was also looking to attract Asean companies to participate in exhibitions and fairs in the country including CAEXPO, Canton Fair, China International Tourism Expo and CAEXPO Tourism Exhibition.
The Chinese official also detailed the history of exchanges and networking between China-Asean in convention and exhibition cooperation.
The 1st China-Asean International Symposium on Convention and Exhibition Cooperation was held in 2006 and then the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade signed a cooperation agreement with Thailand Exposition Bureau in 2009.
Furthermore, the CAEXPO Secretariat has annually held the seminar on China-Asean Convention and Exhibition Affairs in Nanning since 2012.
Proposals for China-Asean convention and exhibition cooperation are joint efforts so coverage by Asean media is indispensable in public awareness raising.
Meanwhile, the closer exchanges and cooperation between China-Asean aim to integrate bilateral resources and develop brand exhibitions and fairs while strengthening exchanges among industrial players at trade forums and other occasions.
This will also assist cooperation among trade associations and exhibition enterprises, to strengthen information sharing and training plus exploring new markets in other countries.
At the journalist seminar the Chinese CAEXPO official also highlighted the sheer scale of the convention and exhibition industry in the country with some 6,000 exhibitions/fairs held annually.
Attending these w ere 5 million exhibiting companies and 20 million trade visitors. Not surprisingly, more than 40 cities have made conventions and exhibitions a strategic pillar for economic growth, with the top five cities being Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Daliand and Chengdu.
