Laos sees surge in demand for pest control, cleaning services

The demand for pest control and cleaning services is rising in Laos but good quality workmanship is needed to satisfy customers' requirements.

General Manager of APS (All Purpose Service) Mr Jean-Philippe Raffy (Philippe) told Vientiane Times last week that Laos is a comparatively small market compare to other Asian country but the number of customers is growing.

The inflow of foreign investment has resulted in the establishment of new hotels, companies, banks and other development projects that require companies to provide international standard in pest control and cleaning services.

APS (All Purpose Service) is a Lao-licensed company with a French Technical Director who has been working in Laos since 1997 in the same area of service. All the necessary documents and authorizations have been registered and approved by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Philippe worked for GSL from November 1997 to January 2014, before the company closed. Consequently, he decided to open his own company, APS, to allow his certified and qualified team to continue services to his customer that he had been performing for many years and give them more satisfaction.

“We currently serve residential properties, hotels, shops, banks, organizations, factories, and commercial and industrial customers throughout Laos. We provide prompt, professional, high quality services and high quality products to premises throughout the country,” Philippe said.

“Our main goal is to ensure that our customers are satisfied and appreciate our services, quality is better than quantity.”

APS offers expert service from France and Belgium to monitor the quality of its work, which is certified.

Philippe said that despite the competition, his company gets more and more customers. He now has about 150 customers including Phubia mining, Landmark hotel, Don Chan hotel, private and other companies and embassies.

APS' insect treatment uses WHO-authorised products, bio-rodent control, professional materials and machines with respective PPE, following work safety precautions.

APS is specialized in pest management and the control of insects and animals such as termites, mosquitoes, ants, cockroaches, mice, rats, bees, snakes and so on. This department is managed by Anthony Legros Concerning cleaning services, all staff has been trained and certified ISSA/CITS. APS provides a wide range of residential, bank, commercial and industrial cleaning services. The company undertakes major cleaning jobs to maintenance cleaning, one job big cleaning, windows, carpet cleaning, waxing, hard stone maintenance and crystallization of marble, granite and terrazzo to give a new life to splendid floor. This department is managed by Philippe.

Concerning fumigation, APS offers treatment for exported wood packaging products and consignments. The company offers high quality fumigation control for warehouses and foodstuffs against insects and pests using PH3 or MB. APS fumigation treatment complies with ISPM-15 and AQIS standards and IPPC regulations and certified by Australian government.

APS has more staff now and many of them are from the provinces. In 2014, the company had only 18 staff but now has 45 employees.

Philippe said APS has be en selected and will be an agent for Ecolab and Cleanatic products which will roll out in Laos in June 2016.
