VN stocks slide further, led by brokers, insurers

Vietnamese shares extended their losses on both local exchanges this morning, led by brokers and insurance companies.

 

The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange inched down 0.1 per cent to close at 567.96 points, and the HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange fell 0.3 per cent to end at 79.55 points.

The brokerage sector was down as HCM City Securities Corporation (HCM) dropped 0.3 per cent, MB Securities Corporation (MBS) lost 2.7 per cent and Kim Long Securities Corporation (KLS) slumped 3.7 per cent.

Among insurance companies, BIDV Insurance Corporation (BIC) declined by 1.9 per cent, while PVI Holdings (PVI) and Vietnam National Reinsurance Corporation (VNR) were down 0.4 per cent and 0.6 per cent, respectively.

However, property firms and rubber producers lifted the markets.

Property developer Vingroup JSC (VIC) and Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC (SCR) gained 0.4 per cent and 1.2 per cent, respectively.

Among rubber producers, Da Nang Rubber JSC (DRC) was up 0.5 per cent, Sao Vang Rubber JSC (SRC) rose 1.5 per cent, and the Southern Rubber Industry JSC (CSM) jumped 3.2 per cent.

Both local markets traded more than 97.6 million shares, worth VND1.35 trillion (US$60 million).
