Fuel prices cut for third time this year

The price of fuel at petrol stations around the country dropped for a third time this year after the reduction was authorised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Regular petrol has dipped in price by 180-170 kip per litre and the price of diesel has fallen by about 160 kip per litre, which is good news for consumers.

The latest price reduction came into effect this morning, in Vientiane and the provinces.

In Vientiane, petrol stations cut prices from 7,970 to 7,790 kip for a litre of premium petrol, from 6,970 to 6,800 kip for a litre of regular grade petrol, while diesel decreased in price from 5,600 to 5,440 kip.

In Khammuan province, premium petrol drop ped from 8,000 to 7,820 kip and from 7,000 to 6,830 kip for regular, while diesel dipped in price from 5,630 to 5,470 kip.

In Savannakhet province, prices dropped from 8,000 to 7,820 kip for a litre of premium petrol, from 7,000 to 6,830 kip for regular, and from 5,630 to 5,470 kip for diesel, while in Champassak province they went down from 8,030 to 7,850 kip for premium petrol, regular petrol from 7,030 to 6,860 kip, and diesel dipped from 5,660 to 5,500 kip.

In Bokeo province, premium petrol dropped from 8,070 kip to 7,890 kip a litre, 7,070 to 6,900 kip for regular petrol and 5,700 to 5,540 kip for diesel, while in Xieng Khuang province regular petrol fell in price from 7,330 to 6,990 kip per litre and diesel from 5, 790 to 5,630 kip.

The Domestic Trade Department reported that from January 8 to December 22 last year, the fuel price in Laos changed 17 times. Only two of the price adjustments were increases.
