ETL targets 26 percent increase in revenue
Enterprise Telecommunication Laos (ETL) Public Company plans to increase revenue by 26 percent over last year's income, to earn an extra 504 billion kip.
The company expects to pay 102 billion kip in taxes and invest 93.4 billion kip in telecommunication systems upgrades, ETL Chief Executive Officer Mr Thongsy Vilayvong reported at the company's annual meeting in Vientiane on Friday.
Developments will focus on the backbone network system with the building of 145 more 3G mobile base stations (Node B), land line system improvement using Softswitch, and expansion of the Internet, WiFi, FTTx system, and data centre. The IP Transit hub will also be expanded to connect with foreign countries in line with growing consumer demand.
The company will also focus on improvements to its billing system and develop its services and a variety of programmes to provide better service as well as technical system management and the provision of modern technological services. This will ensure overall improved quality of service and bolster ETL's plan to take on more new customers with the aim of adding at least 187,600 subscribers.
Last year, the company stepped up developments and improved its business operations especially the backbone network system, mobile system centre, expansion of 2G and 3G mobile base stations, land line centre, internet and billing to ensure improved and expanded services around the country.
At the end of last year, the company had 565,374 mobile phone customers and 13,163 land line customers, 29,587 fixed GSM numbers, and 7,317 internet customers.
Last year the company earned 399.97 billion kip and paid 76 billion kip in taxes, as well as spending 703 million kip on corporate social responsibility projects.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Mr Hiem Phommachanh stressed that ETL's leading committees and all staff should increase their responsibility in implementing their duties to ensure greater progress and profits in the future.
The c ompany should also increase its rate of development and improve services to meet the needs of the general public amid growing com petition, he added.
