Hoa Sen starts construction of new steel plant
Giant steel maker Hoa Sen Group on Friday broke ground for a new plant in Nhon Hoi Economic Zone in the south central province of Binh Dinh.
The VND2 trillion (US$97 million) plant will have a capacity of more than a million tonnes of various products like sheets and cold-rolled steel when it goes on stream in January 2017, starting with 470,000 tonnes a year initially.
Hoa Sen's third plant in the province will export its products to Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia.
It will hire 400 workers.
Hoa Sen is one of the biggest steel makers in Viet Nam with a market share of 40 per cent in sheets and 20 per cent in pipes.
