City to host Indian chemicals, cosmetics exhibition

An Indian chemicals and cosmetics exhibition and buyers-sellers meet to be held at HCM City's Rex Hotel on January 7 and 8 will seek to promote trade with that country in those sectors.

It will also provide a unique opportunity to Vietnamese buyers to interact with Indian manufacturers for sourcing product requirements.

To be organised by the Basic Chemicals, Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics Export Promotion Council (Chemexcil) and the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry's HCM City branch, the event has attracted 51 Indian chemical and cosmetic manufacturers and exporters, several of them industry leaders.

Speaking at a press conference in HCM City on Tuesday, Suhas Bharadi, Chemexcil's managing director, said Viet Nam is a promising market for dyes, dye intermediates and basic chemicals, and India's exports of these products to Viet Nam in 2014-15 was worth US$114.02 million, a 5.85 per cent increase year-on-year.

The exhibition is expected to further increase exports, he said.
