Avery Dennison RBIS inaugurates $30mn plant in southern Vietnam
A U.S. apparel packaging firm on Monday put a multimillion-dollar manufacturing facility into operation in the southern Vietnamese province of Long An.
The US$30 million plant, located at the Long Hau Industrial Park, produces labels, packaging and sub-materials for decoration, according to the developer, Avery Dennison Retail Branding and Information Solutions (Avery Dennison RBIS).
Avery Dennison RBIS is a global leader in apparel industry branding, labeling, packaging, embellishments and RFID (radio-frequency identification) solutions. It is a subsidiary of Avery Dennison, a global giant in labeling and packaging materials and solutions.
Covering 28,000 square meters, the new facility features Avery Dennison RBIS’s latest manufacturing innovations and proprietary developments, the company said in a press release.
It is also equipped with the new Component Weaving technology, available for the first time in Asia, following the initial launch in Italy.
It is expected to employ some 1,200 workers for production.
The Long An plant is the latest manufacturing facility in Vietnam of Avery Dennison RBIS, which has invested $40 million since its entering the country in 2003, according to the company.
The new facility represents the next milestone of the firm’s ongoing investment in the country and meets the increasing demand from many global garment and textile brands that are now operating in Vietnam with breakthrough apparel labeling and branding solutions.
“We’re excited about the long-term opportunities for the apparel and footwear industry in Vietnam, coupled with the projected growth from the Trans-Pacific Partnership,” said Deon Stander, vice president and general manager of Avery Dennison RBIS.
“This investment demonstrates our confidence in growing together with Vietnam and our local customers.
“Our Long An facility will enable us to accelerate our innovative heat-transfer embellishment capabilities and overall speed to market to better serve leading global brands and retailers.”
