Kobelco’s eco-solutions offer trickle down benefits
Kobelco Eco-Solutions Vietnam has recently been awarded two contracts for water supply to residential and industrial complexes in Vietnam using energy-saving technology.
Kobelco Eco-Solutions Vietnam (KESV) will supply 1,500 cubic metres of clean water per day to the Thang Long urban area in the northern province of Hung Yen. Equipped with pre-settler and valve-less filters, the system is almost fully-automated, involving little manual handling, and therefore has low operating costs.
The firm also signed a contract with Hoang Mai Water Supply to supply clean water to industrial parks and residential areas in Hoang Mai district of the central province of Nghe An, with the capacity of 25,000 cubic metres per day. Inclined tube sedimentation and open siphon filtration systems installed in the plant will help improve efficiency as well as reduce operating and maintenance costs.
KESV introduced these latest eco-tech solutions at the Vietwater 2015, Vietnam’s number one international water supply, sanitation, industrial wastewater treatment, and purification event. The company aims to give more Vietnamese customers access to state-of-the-art technologies that have been researched and widely applied in Japan.
KESV’s director Toshimichi Takeyama said, “Unfortunately, not all Vietnamese can enjoy clean water in their daily lives at present – especially those living in less developed or rural areas. There is also an increasing demand for clean water and wastewater treatment as the country has become a popular destination for foreign investment.”

Realising that the Vietnamese market has strong potential with high economic growth, KES established a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2009, which then became a subsidiary in November 2010, in order to accelerate its water and wastewater businesses and introduce environmental technologies, studied and applied in Japan, to Vietnam as well as other countries in Southeast Asia.
