Vietnamese shares ended nearly flat on the two local exchanges this morning.

The benchmark VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange gained 0.04 per cent to close at 563.79 points, and the HNX Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange was down 0.05 per cent to end at 77.98 points.

Local automakers extended their rally this morning. TMT Motor JSC (TMT) and Saigon General Service Corp (SVC) were the best gainers among local producers, rising 3.3 per cent and 5.3 per cent, respectively.

On the contrary, a strong outflow of money made by foreign investors continued to affect the financial sector, which dropped 0.2 per cent. Only Vietcombank slightly rose by 0.2 per cent among the nine listed banks.

Energy firms lost 0.2 per cent. Petrovietnam Gas Corp (GAS) was down 0.2 per cent and Petrovietnam Drilling and Well Services (PVD) dropped 0.6 per cent.

Investors were strongly trading in Hoang Quan Consultancy-Trade-Real Estate Services JSC (HQC) and Gemadept JSC (GMD). HQC was flat, while GMD was up 0.9 per cent.

Japan-Vietnam Medical Equipment JSC (JVC) continued to fall for the third consecutive day by losing another 6.7 per cent, due to poor business performance in the third quarter of this year.

Trading was low, with more than 59 million shares being exchanged, worth VND883 billion (US$39.2 million).
