Vietnam's nine-month vehicle imports exceed $2 billion

Motor vehicle imports in the first nine months of the year reached approximately 83,000 worth over $2 billion, increases of 88.5 per cent and 113.2 per cent, respectively, year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office.

Imports in September, however, fell against August and earlier months. Some 8,000 worth $185 million were imported in September, down 3,000 against August and lower than the monthly average since the beginning of the year. The decline is most likely explained by the first half of the month being part of lunar July, which is considered an unlucky month for buying high value products.

With turnover of approximately $2.1 billion in the first nine months it is possible that the total value of imported mobile vehicles this year may be double the figure in 2014.
