VN Index extends rally in early trading

The VN Index on the HCM Stock Exchange continued to rise this morning, as blue chips in the VN30 basket improved their value.

 

The VN Index ended at 637.85 points, an increase of 0.38 points, with more than 87.7 million shares being traded this morning, worth VND1.94 trillion (US$89 million).

Kinh Do Corporation (KDC) replaced Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) as the largest gainer among blue chips this morning.

KDC began the morning session by hitting the ceiling value, but closed at only VND50,000 – an increase of VND2,400 or 5.04 per cent – and traded nearly 6.4 million shares.

Other stocks that helped the market growth included Vietcombank (VCB), Vingroup Joint Stock Company (VIC) and Ma San Group Corporation (MSN).

Mid-cap shares remained the focus of the investors. Petrovietnam Power Nhon Trach 2 Joint Stock Company (NT2) ended as the most active code, with nearly seven million of its shares being exchanged.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX Index dropped by 0.18 per cent to close at 86.34 points, with 27.8 million of its shares being exchanged, worth VND352.4 billion ($16 million).

Most large-cap shares fell, including Kim Vi Inox Import Export Production Joint Stock Company that lost 9.86 per cent.

Saigon-Ha Noi Bank (SHB) was the most active share on the northern bourse, gaining 1.15 per cent in market value and trading 2.3 million shares.

The afternoon trading session will start at 1pm.
