ITECC Mall to open in August

The ITECC Shopping Mall, which is a privately-owned development project financed by the Lao World Public Company (Lao World), is scheduled to open this August when it will roll out the welcome mat for locals and foreigners.

The mall comprises a supermarket, duty free shop, sports stores, convention halls, business and entertainment venues, health and beauty centres, financial services, and restaurants.

All types of consumer goods and business facilities will be housed at the new Lao World shopping complex.

Lao World Public Company (Lao World) Board Manager, Mr Khamphone Phonekeo, told Vientiane Time s on Friday the directors' board of ITECC Mall plans to officially open the shopping mall in August.

“We plan to open the mall in August this year because we began selling shop units to members of the public last year,” h e said.

The shopping mall will be one of the largest in Vientiane and can also accommodate hundreds of cars.

A member of the company's Board of Directors, Ms Sompasong Palamy, said that about 70 percent of blocks on three different floors have been sold to vendors.

She also said the exact investment figure was not yet finalised regarding the ongoing construction of the mall.

Speaking at an event to introduce the shopping complex in October 2013, Lao-ITECC Managing Director Mr Visanh Nalongsak said the company had an 80-year lease on the site.

He said the mall would focus on high-end purchasers, and local products made under the ‘One District, One Product' scheme will also be displayed.

“While Vientiane has many markets and shopping centres, many of them offer different services and surely the new Lao World complex will be able to meet customers' demand.”
