AGL to offer motor insurance at borders
Lao insurance company AGL is now cooperating with neighbouring Asean countries to sell motor vehicle insurance at various border crossings.
By supporting the aim of providing insurance to Asean customers, the company is also keen to collaborate with companies from various member states of Asean.
Allianz General Laos (AGL) Deputy Managing Director, Mr Holady Volarath, spoke to media representatives on Saturday at a lucky draw event, telling them that Laos is currently cooperating with three other nations, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.
“We are cooperating with Thai insurance companies in the field of car insurance especially,” he said.
He went on to explain that this pilot project has provided the opportunity for the four countries to deepen cooperation in the insurance business but it will also expand to the rest of Asean in the near future.
“Customers who are Asean citizens visiting Laos will be able to buy car insurance in Thailand, Laos and other countries as well, which will cover them while they are travelling in Asean,” Mr Holady said.
Currently AGL is forging links with other insurance companies in the region in order to be well-prepared ahead of the official integration of the Asean Economic Community at the end of this year.
At the same time, there may be some other private insurance companies cooperating with its business partners from other countries in the region.
Mr Holady, who is also Head of the National Bureau for Insurance of Laos, said he was not sure about the cooperation between other Lao and foreign companies but he is sure an association of insurance companies in Asean will be established in the near future.
This fiscal year, AGL has been offering new insurance products to meet the changing demands of customers.
A wide range of insurance policies are on offer, including life, health and travel insurance.
This year is the company's 25th anniversary. They have 77 employees who can assist and advise customers across the country when an accident occurs.
