Thai princess visits Unilever factory complex in Vietnam
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the Royal Delegation of the Kingdom of Thailand on May 7 paid a visit to Unilever Vietnam’s factory complex in the Tay Bac Cu Chi Industrial Zone in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Unilever Vietnam factory complex, composed of four plants, produces personal care products, home care products and foods under Unilever’s brands.
Over the years, the factory complex of Unilever Vietnam has received many awards including the Certificate of Merit for its excellent performance in environmental protection activities from 2005 to 2010 granted by prime minister, the Vietnam Environment Award 2013 granted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the Environment Award granted by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Standing Committee and the city’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment.
“It is our great honor to be one of a few companies being visited by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn during her visit to Vietnam”, said JV Raman, chairman of Unilever Vietnam.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn expressed her appreciation for the company’s achievements in business performance and contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development and environment protection throughout its 20-year journey in Vietnam.
At the end of the visit, Her Royal Highness joined Unilever Vietnam’s board of management to plant a memorial tree in the premise of the factory.
According to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s data, between its entrance to Vietnam in 1995 and June 2014, Anglo-Dutch company Unilever invested more than $300 million in its operation in the country. Unilever works with 150 distributors and 200,000 retailers, creating 1,500 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs who work in its third parties, suppliers and distributors.
