Oil exploitation reaches 6.1 million tonnes in four months

Viet Nam has exploited 6.1 million tonnes of crude oil in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 8.9 per cent, according to a latest report from the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The total exploitation of gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) during this period reached 3.5 billion cu.m and 241,000 tonnes, respectively.

In April alone, the country exploited 1.5 million tonnes of crude oil, 0.9 billion cu.m of gas, and 60,000 tonnes of LPG.

The total output of oil and petrol reached more than 573,000 tonnes during the four months, up 17.5 per cent in comparison with the same period last year.

According to the ministry's report, the coal and mineral sector produced around 13.7 million tonnes of clean coal in the first four months, a year-on-year rise of 4.4 per cent.
