Vasco to fly new domestic route

A direct flight linking the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta city of Can Tho and the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong will be launched on April 26.

The one-way fare has been set at VND840,000 (around $38.6).

This was revealed at a working session between the Viet Nam Air Services Company (Vasco) and representatives from two localities in Can Tho on Wednesday.

The flight will be operated by Vasco and the Vietravel tourist company. Under the contract, Vietravel will charter two flights using a 65-seat ATR plane per week. Forty out of the 65 seats will be reserved for Vietravel's customers, while the remaining will be sold to the public.

The Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong People's Committee, Nguyen Van Yen, said that in 2014, the province had welcomed around 4.8 million tourists, of which approximately 1 million were from the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta region. However, only about 400,000 visitors had arrived via air at the Lien Khuong airport in Lam Dong's Da Lat City.
