Markets end mixed on low liquidity

Shares rose and fell this morning, but still managed to close higher on the HCM Stock Exchange.

The VN-Index inched up just 0.08 per cent to end at 547.27 points, while the VN30, tracking the top 30 shares by market value and liquidity, increased 0.26 per cent to stand at 577.62 points.

Liquidity remained low, however, as just eight stocks saw trading of more than one million shares. FLC Group (FLC) remained the most active code with nearly nine million of its shares being traded.

FLC's price rose 0.94 per cent to close at VND10,700 each.

The market volume grew slightly, compared with yesterday morning, with nearly 44 million shares worth VND617 billion (US$28.8 million) being exchanged by the end of the morning.

In contrast, the HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange edged down 0.27 per cent to finish at 81.38 points, with a very low trading value of just VND202.5 billion ($9.5 million).

The decliners outnumbered the advancers here by 95 to 50, while 215 codes remained flat.

Only three stocks saw trading of more than one million shares, with FIT Investment Co (FIT) leading with two million of its shares being exchanged. But its share price slumped 0.59 per cent to close at VND16,900 ($0.79) each.

The afternoon session will start at 1pm.
