CBD officials review business development work

Over 60 officials from the Committee for Business Development (CBD) under the Government Office met in Vientiane to review business development in 2014 and define the working plan for the year ahead.

The annual meeting was held last week, chaired by Minister to the Government Office and President of the Committee for Business Development, Mr Phouphet Khamphounvong.

“The objective of the meeting was to review the implementation of business development work in 2014 and define the working plan for 2015,” Mr Phouphet said.

“It aims to ensure CBD officials at all central and local levels understand about the work plan and implement it together, in particular, ensuring that adequate information and statistics are collected on enterprises' business activities.”

Officials should continue to disseminate the renovation policy of the Party in line with the renovation conditions of opening to foreign countries and economic integration with the region and the international community.

Thus, this meeting is a step in the bid to push for enterprise management work in line with market economic conditions, promoting enterprise development and improvement in the new period.

Mr Phouphet noted that 2015 is the last year of implementing the 7th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan and also the year Laos will become a member of the Asean Economic Community.

All these things will become challenges and a test for all the sectors to conduct their duties with responsibility.

In particular, businesses need to be improved and developed to build strength and enable them to compete in line with market conditions.

Therefore, the year ahead is critical in terms of business development, and enterprises will need a clearly defined vision, strategy and plan on enterprise development and also an imaginative approach.

“In addition, we should improve enterprise management and development organisations in terms of strength,” Mr Pouphet said.
