Porsche rolls into Kingdom
Cambodia's first official Porsche dealership opened last Wednesday in a sleek showroom across from the Phnom Penh International Airport.
The $2 million dealership, which first broke ground in March 2014, was opened by Precision Cars (Cambodia), the official importer of Porsche vehicles in the Kingdom.
“As the sector grows, we will see a continued increase in the purchase of officially imported vehicles, together with a more regulated market, which in turn will give our consumers greater buying confidence,” said Graeme Hunter, general director of Precision Cars.
Porsche chalked up its Cambodia expansion to good results from the Asia Pacific region, which sold 4,846 units in 2014, a 53 per cent increase year-to-year.
Pily Wong, vice president of Cambodian Automotive Industry Federation, said he thought there was still considerable demand for luxury vehicles in Cambodia despite the recent opening of luxury brands such as Rolls Royce.
“Every product is different and caters to certain tastes,” he said.
“People used to [driving] Lexuses maybe now would like to try something else.”
