Doosan delivers hi-tech pressure equipment to refinery

Doosan Heavy Industries Viet Nam (Doosan Vina) yesterday delivered the first shipment of hi-tech pressure equipment to the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical project, being constructed in Thanh Hoa province.

Following the contract signed last March, Doosan Vina's chemical processing equipment department will produce and ship a total of 450 tonnes of hi-tech pressure equipment for the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical project.

The first batch of locally manufactured equipment included the largest tank that was 4.48m in diameter, 19m long, weighed more than 36 tonnes, and was made of 15mm carbon steel plate.

The US$9-billion Nghi Son project, which commenced construction in 2013 on 400ha of land in the Nghi Son economic zone in Thanh Hoa province, is expected to produce 200,000 barrels of crude oil per day from 2017.

The main products include high octane unleaded gasoline, fuel oil and bitumen, along with petrochemical products such as polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and associated feedstock.

Doosan Vina's exports last year were valued at $200 million and are expected to be worth $300 million this year.
