Construction of Viglacera industrial zone commences

Ceramic building material producer Viglacera commenced the construction of the first phase of the Phu Ha industrial park in the northern province of Phu Tho on February 26.

The first phase of the project will cover 350 hectares in the province's Phu Tho commune, which is located on the axis of the economic corridor connecting Hai Phong, Ha Noi, Lao Cai and China's Kunming City.

The park requires a total investment capital of more than VND1.7 trillion ($85 million) and will focus on the development of hi-end technology, the electronic industry, high-grade construction materials, food processing and mechanical products.

Located about 70 kilometres (km) from Ha Noi, 170km from northern Hai Phong port city and 200km from the Cai Lan deepwater port in the northern province of Quang Ninh, the park is expected to create favourable conditions for businesses' import and export activities.

The park will also allow investors from the surrounding localities to expand their production scale.

Construction Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said the park should focus on developing infrastructure and boosting environment protection to increase its attraction to investors. It should also build housing for workers and generate jobs for local residents, whose land has been acquired for the construction site.

The IZ has so far attracted two businesses, including a Japanese firm. These two businesses are expected to create jobs for nearly 3,000 workers at the Phu Ha industrial park.
